The Hotel Tossal d’Altea is among the establishments recommended by El Gourmet de la Marina 2019 Guide. The text dedicated to our gastronomic offer is as follows:
Historically endorsed by a building that is more than 300 years old, the ancient Almazara olive mill has, after long and painstaking alterations, been transformed into the magnificent Hotel Tossal d’Altea, with Almàssera de Guillem Restaurant inside, as a tribute to its former use. Here, traditional simple cooking is served, which has a real Mediterranean feel to it and it is based on recipes from times gone by with a touch of modern day, daring creativity added to them. Extensive praise is given to dishes such as the Senyoret peeled seafood paella; the brothy monkfish and prawn or cod and spinach rice; the arugula, anchovy, walnut and parmesan cheese salad; rack of lamb with honey and rosemary; and the duck confit with caramelized medlars from Callosa d’En Sarrià.
Tradition has taken hold of the desserts too, with sumptuos delights such as the homemade cheesecake with fig jam; the almond crème caramel with red berries; or the homemade Valor chocolate cake with rosemary syrup.
And there is also the indispensable contribution from the best extra virgin olive oils of the region. And in addition, another feature to be enjoyed is it elegant rooms and spaces that are exquisitely decorated to enhance the peaceful surroundings and the rural views.
